Welcome to our Circular Workshop in Zwolle: the open workshop where you can get to work with bicycles, plastic and textiles, among other things. Under supervision, you repair, recycle and create something new from residual flows. Come tinker, relax with a cup of coffee, or play a record. Who are we?

We are Roestug, consisting of three driven entrepreneurs from Zwolle: from left to right Hermen Fikse, Gerke Slotboom and Bram Vreugdenhil. Our shared dream, a circular economy, comes together in Roestug. We repair, upcycle and recycle old orphan bicycles. Our backgrounds in bicycle repair, IPO and marketing are a great combination to help this company grow further. The bicycle surplus in the Netherlands is getting out of hand, but the materials on it are worth their weight in gold, if you know what you can do with them. Roestug is now a company with 2 employees.

What is the plan?

Roestug is already well on its way with processing the bicycle waste; We have been working on this since 2020. In the past year, about 150 bicycles have already been saved from destruction. We not only want to scale this up, but also make it accessible and tangible. With the opening of a 'Circular Open Workshop', individuals, schools and companies can not only outsource circularly; they can experience it for themselves! Under supervision, you can repair your own bike, recycle your own shampoo bottles or make your own belt from old bicycle tires (and the list goes on...). In this way, we make repair sexy and tough again, accelerate the pace at which we process bicycle waste and create a creative workplace for a wide target group.
