"Climate-friendly tire circular economy in Europe The Alliance Future Tires (AZuR) is committed to a climate-friendly tire circular economy in Europe. Tires should be manufactured as sustainably as possible and kept in the recycling loop after use. Over 70 AZuR partners from industry, trade and science cover all sectors of the tire circular economy. From sustainable new tire production, repair and retreading to material, thermal and chemical recycling. With research projects and studies, the 12 universities and institutes in the AZuR network provide fresh impetus for the optimization of processes, products and procedures in the manufacture, retreading and recycling of tires. The AZuR success model of the tire circular economy is attracting worldwide attention. It can and should be transferred to other regions of the world and waste streams. At TyreXpo Asia 2023, AZuR was presented with the Recircle Award in the Circular Economy category. The internationally renowned prize was awarded in recognition of AZuR’s commitment to retreading and the environmentally friendly recycling of tires. In November 2023, AZuR received the “European Transport Award for Sustainability 2024” for its study on the positive life cycle assessment of retreading."
