Circular Flow
Sustainable global circular economy for Neoprene waste
Sustainable global circular economy for Neoprene waste
About
Headquartered in
Bulgaria
Circular Flow is a groundbreaking neoprene recycling initiative dedicated to closing the loop on neoprene waste. Founded in partnership with Runawave Sport and supported by leading research from the University of Chemical Technology and Metallurgy in Bulgaria, the project offers an innovative, sustainable solution to the long-standing problem of wetsuit and neoprene product disposal. Instead of sending used neoprene to landfill or incineration, Circular Flow transforms it into new, usable material. While the recycled neoprene doesn’t match the elasticity or insulation of virgin material, it is perfectly suited for other neoprene products, such as change mats, dive mask strap cover, laptop sleeves, without compromising durability or performance. This circular approach enables continuous recycling, significantly reducing environmental impact and carbon emissions. Supported by funding from Innovation Norway, Circular Flow is already working with industry-leading brands including Finisterre, Manera, PADI, and Wetsuit Outlet, with plans to expand further across the EU. Runawave, with more than 50 years of neoprene manufacturing expertise, leads product development, ensuring each recycled item meets brand standards. Circular Flow is more than a recycling program, it’s a practical, scalable step towards a more sustainable future for the watersports and outdoor industries.
