Many United States cement plants burn scrap automobile tyres in their kilns as an alternative to a percentage of the fossil fuels which would otherwise be used. Recent environmental regulations, the demand for Portland Cement, and rising fuel costs all have a part to play in the future of tyre-derived fuels (TDF) which is assessed here. (UK)
