Every year, thousands of worn-out wetsuits reach the end of their useful lives. Traditionally, most of these neoprene products are sent to landfill or incineration, creating unnecessary waste and environmental impact. Circular Flow set out to change that reality by creating a closed-loop recycling system for neoprene.

The journey begins when surfers, divers, and watersports enthusiasts return their old wetsuits through Circular Flow’s network of retail and brand partners. Instead of being discarded, the wetsuits are collected and transported to Circular Flow’s recycling facility in Bulgaria, where zips, linings, and non-neoprene components are removed. The remaining neoprene material is carefully processed and transformed into a new recycled material called Renoprene.

Renoprene is Circular Flow’s trademarked recycled neoprene, developed specifically from end-of-life wetsuits. While recycled neoprene may have slightly different performance characteristics compared with virgin neoprene, it remains highly durable and suitable for a wide range of applications.

Using Renoprene, Circular Flow works with brands and retailers to design and manufacture new products, including change mats, laptop sleeves, dive mask strap covers, gloves, socks, and other neoprene accessories. This approach gives valuable material a second life while reducing the need for new petroleum-based neoprene production.

The impact is significant. Circular Flow’s model helps keep millions of wetsuits out of landfill, reduces waste across the watersports industry, and supports a more circular economy for neoprene products. The company collaborates with partners such as PADI, Finisterre, Manera, and others to expand recycling opportunities worldwide.

By turning discarded wetsuits into Renoprene and creating high-quality new products from recycled material, Circular Flow demonstrates that waste can become a resource, proving that sustainability and innovation can work hand in hand.
