Key Properties of Buna-N

• Oil & Fuel Resistance – Highly resistant to petroleum-based oils, fuels, and greases.

• Good Mechanical Strength – Offers excellent tensile strength and abrasion resistance.

• Temperature Resistance – Performs well between -40°C to 120°C, with specialty grades tolerating higher temperatures.

• Water & Chemical Resistance – Resistant to water, alcohols, and mild acids, but less effective against ozone and UV exposure.

Limitations of Buna-N

• Poor Ozone & UV Resistance – Can degrade if exposed to direct sunlight for extended periods.

• Limited Heat Resistance – Not ideal for high-temperature applications above 120°C (Viton® or silicone may be better).

• Less Flexibility at Low Temperatures – Can become brittle in extreme cold, though special formulations improve this.
