Challenge

Residents of the Carlsro housing complex repeatedly complained about noise from neighbors’ footsteps, rollerblades, postal deliveries, and high heels on the outdoor corridors. The noise traveled directly through the uninsulated concrete decking, disturbing the peace for those living below. Even the slightest movement was clearly audible and caused significant annoyance.

Solution

ErgoFloor installed new noise-reducing Regupol Keraflex EL rubber tiles on the corridors and balconies, where previously there had only been uninsulated concrete. The base layer of the Regupol tiles is made from recycled rubber granules, while the top layer consists of new EPDM rubber granules. In addition to their impact sound-reducing properties, the Regupol Keraflex EL tiles are slip-resistant and comfortable underfoot. The product is classified as Cfl-s1 according to EN 13501, making it approved for use in escape routes—as required in this setting.

Result

  • Significant noise reduction

  • residents can now sleep at night without being disturbed

  • Improved comfort – the tiles are soft and pleasant to walk on

  • Positive feedback – inspector Ebbe Madsen reports a notable improvement in residents’ quality of life and highlights that noise reduction is a key factor in overall indoor climate improvement
