Abstract

Recycling of rubber is of growing importance worldwide due to increasing raw material costs, diminishing resources and growing awareness of environmental issues and sustainability. Various different recycling processes for rubber have been investigated and developed throughout the years. Several indepth reviews discussing the state-of-the-art of rubber recycling were published in 1974, 2002 and 2012 (refs. 1-3).
